1555 Wabash passes 25% sold

New West Realty has announced that 1555 Wabash, a contemporary, new-construction mid-rise in the South Loop, has surpassed the 25-percent-sold milestone, having sold more than 50 condominiums, following its grand opening on May 11.

Located at the corner of Wabash and 16th Street, 1555 Wabash offers 176 condominium residences with one to two bedrooms, one to two baths, a balcony or terrace and 767 to 1,376 square feet. The residences are priced from the low $200,000s to the low $600,000s, and deeded parking is available starting at $33,000.

All homes offer oversized windows, 10-foot ceilings in the main living area, a kitchen island, and a tech center. Building amenities include a fitness room and a landscaped terrace.

Ted Mazola, president and CEO of New West Realty, attributes the success of the development to the contemporary design, functional floor plans, and popularity of the area.

"The South Loop is the hottest area in the city for new construction," said Mazola. "Buyers looking in this area have their choice of a number new buildings, so we designed 1555 Wabash to really stand out. It's sleek and modern and gives buyers a smart, stylish layout at a very competitive price."

That layout includes a built-in tech center in most plans. Terrie Whittaker, president of sales and marketing, noted features such as the tech center make the most of the homes' square footage.

"For urbanites, space is at a premium," said Whittaker. "With that in mind, these plans were designed to offer smart solutions. The tech center creates a distinct area for the computer, bills, and papers that tend to pile up in other areas of the home. Many of the homes offer a walk-in closet, as well. Even the kitchen island makes the most of the main living area by creating distinction between the living room and kitchen, while still allowing for an open feeling."

Kitchens feature granite countertops and a stainless steel appliance package, while the main living areas include hardwood flooring.

The building features a glass and steel facade with a landscaped terrace, designed by Jonathan Splitt Architects. According to Mazola, the building was conceived with the neighborhood in mind.

"This development is a reflection of the South Loop. It's contemporary and cutting edge," said Mazola.

A sales center for 1555 Wabash is located on site. To visit, take Roosevelt Road to Wabash and go south to 16th Street. Turn left on 16th and the center is on the left.
